ADVANCED METERING INFRASTRUCTURE (AMI) PROGRAM MANAGER
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified AMI Program Manager to lead and oversee the successful implementation of large-scale Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) programs for water utilities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing turnkey AMI deployments from project initiation through project closeout while ensuring delivery on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with stakeholder expectations.
This role requires extensive experience in utility modernization programs, strong project leadership capabilities, and expertise in change management and stakeholder engagement.

Required Experience
- Demonstrated experience successfully managing the complete implementation of a turnkey AMI project for a water utility serving a minimum of 150,000 residential and commercial meters.
- Minimum of five (5) years of direct project management experience overseeing AMI implementation programs.
- Proven experience managing large, complex utility infrastructure projects involving multiple stakeholders and technology integrations.
- Ability to provide objective program oversight and represent the utility’s interests throughout the project lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with water utility AMI programs involving customer engagement, meter data management systems, billing integration, and operational process transformation.
- Strong knowledge of utility industry standards, project governance practices, and change management methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Responsible For
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all phases of AMI program delivery, including project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, risk registers, and communication plans.
- Coordinate and manage utility stakeholders, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
- Oversee AMI deployment activities including meter replacement programs, communication network implementation, systems integration, testing, commissioning, and operational transition.
- Identify and mitigate project risks while ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and industry best practices.
- Manage program governance activities, executive reporting, and stakeholder communications.
- Support organizational readiness and change management initiatives to facilitate successful adoption of new AMI technologies and business processes.
- Ensure project deliverables meet quality, performance, and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate issue resolution and decision-making across multiple project workstreams.
